Ammonium Perchlorate (AP) is primarily used as a powerful oxidizer in solid rocket propellants, where it accounts for approximately 70%-80% of the composition. It is a key component in ammonium perchlorate composite propellant (APCP), which is used in aerospace rocket propulsion, including the Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Boosters, NASA's Mars Exploration Rover descent stage retrorockets, the Indian Space Research Organization's PSLV, and the solid rocket boosters of NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) and SpaceX’s Falcon rockets. APCP is also used in aircraft ejection seats and specialty space exploration applications.
