Hawthorn Bond clay powder is a plastic fireclay used in ceramics. It has good green strength and refractoriness and fires to a buff color, which makes it a standard addition to stoneware and high-fire clay bodies.

In glaze work it contributes alumina and silica and helps keep a glaze suspended rather than settling in the bucket. It is also used in kiln wash, wadding and refractory patching mixes, and in pyrotechnic tooling as a dry plug and nozzle material, where a clay that compacts well and resists heat is required.
