Sodium Carbonate Monohydrate Powder

Sodium carbonate monohydrate, also called soda ash or washing soda, is supplied as a lab grade powder in a one pound quantity. It is a strongly alkaline, water soluble salt used wherever a stable, inexpensive source of carbonate and alkalinity is needed.

Common uses include glass batching, where it acts as a flux for silica, water softening by precipitating calcium and magnesium, pH adjustment in plating and dyeing baths, and formulation of detergents and cleaning products. In the laboratory it serves as a general reagent and as a base for neutralization and titration work.
