1 LB Cab-O-Sil Fumed Silica (Silicon Dioxide)

Cab-O-Sil fumed silica is amorphous silicon dioxide produced by flame hydrolysis, supplied as a reagent grade ultrafine powder in a one-pound container. Primary particles run roughly 7 to 40 nanometers, giving a very high surface area and an extremely low bulk density.

It is used as a thixotropic thickener and anti-sag additive in resins, silicone sealants, adhesives, paints, and inks, and as a free-flow and anti-caking agent in powders. Ceramicists add it as a silica source and suspension aid in glazes. Because the powder is so light, it disperses easily into air; mix it with dust protection in place.
