250g Potassium Bromide

Potassium bromide supplied as 250 g of white crystalline laboratory grade salt. It is freely soluble in water and is one of the standard alkali halides kept for general reagent work.

In darkroom photography it is the usual restrainer in developer solutions, holding back fog and controlling contrast, and it is used in preparing silver bromide emulsions. Laboratories use it as a bromide source in synthesis and analysis and as pressed windows and pellets for infrared spectroscopy. Veterinary practice uses it as an anticonvulsant under prescription.
