Hydrochloric acid supplied as an industrial grade solution at 36.25 percent concentration in a 950 ml bottle. It is a strong mineral acid, clear to faintly yellow, and it fumes at this concentration.
Typical uses are pH adjustment of process water and solutions, pickling and descaling of steel and other metals, removal of rust, mill scale and mineral deposits ahead of plating or coating, and regeneration of ion exchange resin. In the laboratory it serves as a source of chloride and as a general acidifying reagent. It is corrosive to skin, eyes and most metals.
